Although the harmless hoax started out in 2007 on the internet it quickly made its way into other arenas with hoaxers playing ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ at football games and other popular sports events, some even dressing and impersonating the star. There have also been a number of Rickrolling  instances on television and radio and a recent occurrence of a flashmob at Londons Liverpool street station wherein the crowd all sang the great Rick Astley tune, ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’.

Christmas brings a multitude of opportunities for a little seasonal Rickrolling. Many high street shops, at this time of year, play Christmas carols and pop tunes incesssantly. If you work in a shop and need a break from the never ending Christmas tunes, why not introduce a little Rick into the proceedings and Rickroll your Christmas shoppers. Dress up as Rick and mime to the tune, capture yourself on video and upload to Youtube for a little fame.

Then there are the Christmas eve carol services in churches all over the world. If you have control of the church sound system why not have a little harmless fun and interject some Rick into the proceedings to Rickroll the congregation.

And what about carol singing? Rather than the boring old ‘Good King Wenceslas’ and ‘While Shepherds Washed Their Socks by Night’ why not dress up as Rick and serve up a rousing rendition of ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’. Bound to bring a smile to a few quizzical faces and you’re likely to make a few extra bob, especially if you can do the Rick Astley dance.

I’m a great fan of harmless, whimsical practical jokes and Rickrolling is a fine example.

But you might be more interested in hot young babes or maybe a new van lease contract. Or, in this cold weather, maybe you need some good quality outdoor clothing.

In my post last week was a catalogue for a jewellery shop. That’s odd, I thought, I didn’t bloody order that, but it was addressed to me. That evening my new woman comes round for a bit of grubby love and lo and behold she picks up on the fact the catalogue was sitting on the kitchen side.

“Oh, it’s come then” she said, “what’s come?” I said, “My new jewellery catalogue, I thought you could treat me to some new jewellery!”

And there it was, after a few short weeks, my new woman was looking for the wallet to be well and truly opened and for Christmas to come early. My reaction? Not a chance.

After I had promised the jewellery from pages 16, 17 and 18, I had my grubby little way with her, dropped her off at work in the morning and then dumped her by txt in the afternoon!

So sorry to Zoo Jewellery (whoever they are) who sent me their fine jewellery catalogue, but no sales from Grubby on this occasion.
